From a personal loss
My father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away within a year. That loss inspired the journey. Rosetta Omics is how that journey became a mission shared by our team, partners, clinicians and researchers.
What if we could understand each disease?
Standard treatment too often relies on population averages. What if a single routine biopsy could reveal far more, and help us truly understand each patient's own disease?

The story behind the name.
- The place
Dr. Wahid Awad grew up a few kilometres from Rosetta (Rashid, رشيد), a small city on the Nile Delta, in northern Egypt. When the time came to name the company, he wanted a name carrying both personal meaning and a sense of purpose.
- The discovery
It was there, in 1799, that a French soldier unearthed a stone carved in three scriptsHieroglyphic, Demotic, Ancient Greek: one decree, three languages.. Centuries later, in 1822, it gave Champollion the key to decipher hieroglyphics and unlock the story of one of the world's oldest civilizations.
- The encounter
He first stood in front of the Rosetta Stone at the British Museum in May 2022, one month after starting the company. Standing there, he realised how powerful a metaphor it was for what the team was trying to build.
- The parallel
Cancer writes its story in many biological languagesTranscriptomics, proteomics, spatial biology, clinical data: read together, not separately. too: DNA, RNA, proteins, metabolites, lipids, etched onto tumors like codes on a stone. Alone, these scripts are overwhelming. With multiomics and AI, Rosetta Omics aims to be the stone that deciphers them.
- The meaning
For him, Rosetta is more than history. It is a reminder of where he comes from, and a symbol of the bridge the company is building between science and hope for all humanity.
Founded by Dr. Wahid Awad as a graduation project during his Executive MBA at ESCP Business School, officially launched in 2023.
